Nothing But The Truth by Chariese McCoy Hall is a compelling memoir that chronicles the author’s traumatic experiences and remarkable resilience. Chariese’s early life was fraught with challenges, including an emotionally distant upbringing and severe discipline from her father. At 15, she was diagnosed with bone cancer, enduring grueling treatments that continued through her 16th birthday. Compounding her struggles, Chariese experienced profound trauma from sexual abuse and gang rape, which she kept secret until she was 28 due to threats and fear.
In her memoir, Chariese candidly addresses the long-lasting impact of her trauma, detailing the physical, mental, and emotional abuse she endured. Her story highlights the severe emotional toll these experiences took on her, including periods of substance abuse and deep emotional pain. Despite these challenges, Chariese’s narrative ultimately offers a message of hope and healing, emphasizing the importance of speaking out and seeking support. “Nothing But The Truth” serves as both a testament to her strength and a source of inspiration for those facing their own battles.

I received my copy of Nothing But The Truth…. And was so excited to get started reading it and Boi It was very tuff to take in But very inspiring to read all of the things she had gone through and fought so hard to overcome as a Young Teen and a Young Mom and Cancer Survivor. as a Young Woman/Black Woman she taught me though sharing her story their is not a need for shame anymore that you can never let go of the Past hurt , Anger or Fear of keeping things inside to yourself if you want to heal and move on in life you have to tell the truth be strong with in yourself and give it to God and let It go 🙌Thanks Chariese for telling us your Truth and I am Enjoying writing in the writing passages Learning how to express myself more!! Love Marcia your childhood Friend ❤️🙏🥰
